My Treatment Philosophy

I believe we can all benefit from learning more about ourselves and from having the unbiased support of another person.  The more insight we have into ourselves, our behavior, and emotions, the more choices we have and the more power we have to make changes in our lives.  I enjoy helping people make these changes and watching them gain a greater sense of happiness and inner peace as a result.

I primarily use cognitive/behavioral techniques to help foster these changes.  This means that I help people change the way they think about themselves and the world so that their thoughts are more positive and reality-based.  This, in turn, leads to more positive feelings and less anxiety and depression. I also incorporate mindfulness into my therapy to help my patients become more self aware, present, accepting, and compassionate.

I have gone through extensive training in techniques that have been proven through research to help people suffering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.  These modalities include Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  I have utilized these techniques to help people cope with all types of trauma including combat trauma, sexual assault, medical traumas, and motor vehicle accidents.

Please take some time to further browse my website.  I hope that it will answer any questions you may have.  I also hope that it leads you to take another step toward improved well-being by contacting me.
